West Yorkshire doesn’t have one big Dixy city. Instead the shops are spread out: one in Leeds, one in Bradford, two in Huddersfield, two in Halifax and one in Heckmondwike. That makes it awkward to find the nearest one, and the hygiene ratings range from 5 all the way down to 1, so it’s worth knowing which is which before you order.

Why the two Huddersfield shops are rated 1
Both Huddersfield shops were inspected by Kirklees Council in summer 2026, and both came out at 1, which means major improvement is needed. The published breakdown shows the same weak spot at each: “management of food safety”, the paperwork, training and checks a kitchen uses to keep food safe, was marked as needing major improvement. Cross Church Street was also marked down on food handling and on cleanliness. Dalton was marked down on cleanliness.
A 1 doesn’t mean the council has shut a shop down, and businesses can ask for a re-inspection once they’ve fixed things, so these ratings could change quickly. But if hygiene matters to you, Heckmondwike (rated 4) is the nearest better-rated Dixy for most of Kirklees. One more thing: when we checked on 25 September, the Cross Church Street shop’s own ordering site said it was closed for a holiday.
Is New Dixy in Halifax the same chain?
We’re not sure. The Gibbet Street shop trades as “New Dixy” rather than Dixy Chicken, and it isn’t on Just Eat’s official Dixy Chicken page, while Wards End is. It may be an independent takeaway using a similar name, so don’t expect the same menu. You may also see a “Dixy Chicken BD3” on Leeds Road in Bradford in older directories. There’s no Dixy registered at that address now, so we’ve left it out.
Where the branches are
In Leeds, Dixy is at 45 New Briggate, right across the road from the Grand Theatre, the home of Opera North. It sits at the top of the city centre’s late-night strip, and that’s reflected in its hours. It’s the only Dixy in Leeds, so anyone in Headingley, Harehills or Beeston will usually be ordering from here.
Bradford’s branch is on Morley Street, the same street as the Alhambra Theatre, and Deliveroo files it under its University of Bradford delivery zone. Given how many people in Bradford eat halal, it’s surprising there’s only one Dixy in the city. In Halifax, Wards End is in the town centre, and Gibbet Street is a short way west. Huddersfield has one shop in the town centre and one out at Dalton on the Wakefield Road.
We found no Dixy in Keighley, Dewsbury, Batley or Wakefield.
Opening hours
Leeds is the late one. Uber Eats lists New Briggate from 10:45am to 4:30am, and the halal directory Zabihah has it open even later on Friday and Saturday nights, though that listing may be out of date. Halifax Wards End starts delivering on Just Eat at 11:30am. We couldn’t find reliable hours for Bradford, Huddersfield, Heckmondwike or Gibbet Street, so check the app or ring the shop.

The Lunch Box is the one item priced the same at all three branches we checked on Just Eat. Almost everything else moves by a pound or two, and Uber Eats in Leeds tends to be the dearest.
