Prices are approximate ranges from our UK menu prices guide. Every Dixy shop sets its own prices and bucket sizes, and delivery apps usually charge more than the counter. Delivery and service fees are not included.
How the planner works
It starts with how many pieces of chicken you need: two, three or four per adult depending on appetite, and one and a half per child. Then it tries every sensible mix of party buckets, family buckets, bargain buckets and smaller meals, and picks the one that costs least while covering everyone.
It also makes sure each person gets a portion of chips, and a drink too if you pick that option. We’ve assumed a family bucket’s sides and drinks cover four people and counted a party bucket as 12 pieces, since that’s the smallest size you’re likely to get. If your local shop’s buckets are bigger, you’ll have leftovers.
If you’re ordering through Just Eat, Deliveroo or Uber Eats, switch to one of the app options. Menu prices on the apps are usually 15 to 25% higher than at the counter, before any delivery fee. When you’re happy with the order, tap Copy order and paste it into your group chat.
Tips for ordering for a group
- Ask whether you can choose the mix of pieces. Some shops let you swap wings for breast pieces.
- Kids usually prefer strips or nuggets to pieces on the bone, so a kids meal can work better than an extra piece.
- Prices and bucket sizes vary between shops, so check the board or app before you order.
Common questions
How many pieces of chicken per person?
Two for a light meal, three for most adults and four for big appetites. Children usually manage one or two.
Is a bucket always cheaper?
For three or more people it usually is. For one or two, a meal deal is often just as good value.
