Effective date: 2026 | Last reviewed: 2026
This policy explains what personal data this website collects, why we collect it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It is written primarily for visitors in the United Kingdom, where our audience is concentrated, and it reflects the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).
We are an independent information website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Dixy Chicken or Dixy Group Holdings Limited.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for this website is the operator of dixychickeninfo.com, contactable at privacy@dixychickeninfo.com or through our contact page. If you have any question about this policy, or you want to exercise one of the rights described in section 8, use that address and we will respond within one month.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | How it reaches us | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address and message | Only when you submit our contact form or send us a price correction | To reply to you and to review the correction |
| Comment name, email and content | Only if you post a comment, where comments are enabled | To display and moderate comments |
| IP address, user agent, referring page, timestamps | Automatically, in server logs | Security, abuse prevention and technical diagnostics |
| Pages viewed, session duration, approximate location, device and browser type | Automatically, via analytics cookies, where you consent | To understand which content is useful and improve it |
| Advertising identifiers and interaction data | Automatically, via advertising cookies, where you consent | To serve, cap and measure advertising |
We do not ask for and do not want payment card details, bank details, government identifiers, or special category data such as health, religion or ethnicity. Please do not send any of that to us.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. Under PECR we may only set cookies that are not strictly necessary after you have given consent. When you first visit, a consent banner lets you accept or reject analytics and advertising cookies, and you can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link in our footer.
Strictly necessary cookies, which keep the site secure and remember your consent choice, are set without consent because the site cannot function without them. Full details of each category are in our cookie policy.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though parts of the site may stop working if you do.
4. Advertising
This site may carry third-party display advertising. Where ads are shown, the advertising provider and its partners can use cookies to serve and measure them, including on the basis of pages you have visited here and elsewhere.
You can opt out of many third-party vendor cookies at www.aboutads.info, or at www.youronlinechoices.com if you are in the UK or EU. Vendors not listed here may also serve ads on this site, each under its own privacy policy.
Because we serve UK and EEA visitors, non-essential advertising cookies are only set after consent is captured through a consent management platform, as UK and EU rules require.
5. Analytics
We use a website analytics tool to measure how the site is used, in aggregate. Analytics cookies are only set where you have consented. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from analytics data and we do not combine it with contact form data.
6. Our legal bases under UK GDPR
| Processing | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Replying to your enquiry or correction | Legitimate interests, and performance of your request |
| Server logs and site security | Legitimate interests in protecting the site |
| Analytics cookies | Consent |
| Advertising cookies and personalisation | Consent |
| Publishing a comment you submitted | Consent |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.
7. How long we keep data
Contact form messages are kept for up to 24 months so we can trace the history of a price correction. Server logs are kept for up to 12 months. Analytics data is kept for the retention period configured in our analytics tool. Comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask us to remove them, which we will do on request.
8. Your rights
If you are in the UK you have the right to be informed, the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights relating to automated decision making. We do not carry out automated decision making or profiling that has legal effects on you.
To exercise any right, email privacy@dixychickeninfo.com. We will not charge you and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office, the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it first.
Visitors outside the UK may have equivalent rights under their own local law, including the EU GDPR for EEA residents and the CCPA and CPRA for California residents, which include the right to know what is collected and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money.
9. International transfers
Our hosting, analytics and advertising providers may process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, as applicable to each provider.
10. Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including HTTPS, access controls and kept-current software, to protect the limited data we hold. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective and last-reviewed dates at the top of the page always show the current version, and material changes will be flagged on the site.
13. Contact
Email privacy@dixychickeninfo.com or use our contact page.
