Dixy Chicken USA: what we found
The US shop that turns up most often under the name is Dixy Chicken and Grill at 7504 5th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. It sold halal fried and grilled chicken along with burgers and gyros, and it still has listings on several review and delivery sites. Yelp now marks it as closed. We couldn’t find anything showing whether it was ever part of the UK franchise or simply used the name.
That’s a pattern worth knowing about. “Dixy” is an easy name to borrow, and in both the UK and abroad some shops use it without any link to Dixy Chicken’s head office. So if you spot a Dixy sign in the US, don’t assume the menu, recipes or halal certificate match the British chain.
