Where the data comes from
Everything here comes from the Food Standards Agency register, which councils update after each inspection. We last checked it on 24 September 2026. Click any rating to see the official inspection record.
The list includes shops trading as Dixy Original and Dixy Fried Chicken. They may be run separately from the Dixy Chicken franchise, so their menus and prices can differ.
What the ratings mean
In England, Wales and Northern Ireland ratings go from 0 to 5. A 5 means very good hygiene, 3 is generally satisfactory, and 0 to 2 means the council wants improvements. Scotland uses a different scheme, where shops get either Pass or Improvement Required. A rating reflects food handling, cleanliness and management, not how the food tastes.
If your local shop is missing
- It may be registered under a company name that doesn’t include Dixy.
- It may be new and not yet on the register.
- It may have closed or changed its name.
In any of those cases, search the address on the FSA site directly, or check a delivery app.

Birmingham has the most by far, followed by London and Manchester. See our guides to Birmingham, London and Manchester.
Is a low rating a reason not to go?
It’s a reason to be careful. A 0 to 2 means the inspector found problems that needed fixing. Shops can improve and ask for a new inspection, so check the date too.
