Dixy Chicken Info is an independent, unofficial guide. We are not affiliated with Dixy Chicken or any delivery platform. Menus and prices vary by branch. Prices in this guide were checked on branch menus in October 2026.
Desserts are the part of the Dixy Chicken menu most people scroll past, and until recently that was fair enough. At most branches the dessert section is a short, cheap list: a doughnut, an apple pie, a slice of cake. But one branch in Stoke-on-Trent has turned its dessert menu into something people travel for, adding the viral Matilda Cake and a Dubai Kunafa Milkshake that no other Dixy in the country currently sells. This guide covers both sides of the story: the two viral items and where to find them, what they cost on each app, and the full standard dessert and milkshake range with prices from branches across the UK.
The viral desserts: Matilda Cake and the Kunafa Milkshake
Both viral items live at a single branch: Dixy Chicken Hanley, on Stafford Street in Stoke-on-Trent. We checked menus from branches in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Newcastle as well, and neither item appears at any of them. The branch itself markets the kunafa shake as a Hanley exclusive for a limited time, so treat this as one shop experimenting while the rest of the chain watches.
The Famous Matilda Cake
The Matilda Cake is a tall, layered chocolate cake named after the famous cake scene in Matilda, and it has been doing the rounds on social media all year as chocolate lovers hunt down the best version. Dixy’s is a rich, multi-layered chocolate cake that the branch lists simply as “The New Famous Matilda Cake”. What surprises most people is not the cake but the price, because the same cake at the same branch costs very different amounts depending on which app you order through.
The Dubai Kunafa Milkshake
The second viral item rides the Dubai chocolate trend. The kunafa milkshake blends creamy gelato with crunchy golden kunafa pastry, a swirl of pistachio sauce and a whipped cream topping. It is the dessert version of the pistachio kunafa chocolate bars that filled social feeds across the UK, the Gulf and Saudi Arabia this year, and so far Hanley is the only Dixy branch serving it. The branch describes it as limited time only, and Dixy has form for rotating these specials, so it may not be there for long.
What the viral items cost at Hanley
| Item | Deliveroo | Uber Eats |
|---|---|---|
| The New Famous Matilda Cake | £6.99 | £11.99 |
| Dubai Kunafa Milkshake | £6.99 | £9.99 |
| Strawberry Cheesecake | £3.99 | £5.99 |
| Chocolate Doughnut | £1.49 | £1.50 |
Read that table again, because it is the most useful money-saving fact in this guide. The Matilda Cake is £5.00 cheaper on Deliveroo than on Uber Eats at the very same shop, and the kunafa shake is £3.00 cheaper. Nothing about the food changes; each platform listing is simply priced separately. If you are ordering either viral item, check both apps before you pay, and remember that walking into the shop avoids app pricing altogether. Hanley’s Uber Eats menu also carries a pricier dessert tier under a “Heyman’s” section, including a classic tiramisu at £9.99 and a chocolate mousse cake at £8.99, neither of which appears on its Deliveroo menu.
The viral range rotates. Earlier this year the same branch sold a Mini Egg Crunch Cake, a Matilda cake topped with chocolate sauces and a crunchy mini egg layer, at £10.99. It has since come off the menu, and the current seasonal special is a Cadbury Creme Egg Milkshake at £8.99 on Deliveroo, topped with crushed mini eggs. There is also a Mint Aero milkshake at £5.99. If a Dixy dessert is all over your feed this month, do not assume it will still be there next month.
The standard Dixy dessert menu and prices
Outside Hanley, desserts follow a standard template that most branches share, with each shop setting its own prices. The range is short and cheap: doughnuts and apple pies at the bottom, slices of cake and cheesecake in the middle, and warm cookie dough at the top. These are the prices we found across UK branch menus in October 2026.
| Dessert | Typical price range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Doughnut (single) | £0.80 to £1.99 | Cheapest dessert on the menu; £0.80 in Leeds, £1.99 in Manchester |
| Apple Pie | £0.99 to £2.10 | Served hot and deep-fried at Manchester branches |
| Cakes (choose from a list) | £2.00 to £4.49 | The only dessert at some smaller branches |
| Chocolate Fudge Cake (slice) | £3.75 to £5.99 | £3.99 at Wilbraham Road, Manchester |
| Strawberry Cheesecake | £3.99 to £5.99 | Price depends on branch and app |
| Snickers Almond Cake | £3.75 to £4.49 | A regular at Manchester and Newcastle branches |
| Custard Box | £3.95 to £5.99 | £3.95 in Leeds, £5.99 in Dudley |
| Cookie Dough | £5.50 to £9.99 | The priciest standard dessert; £5.50 in Leeds, £9.99 in Dudley |
| Ice-Cream Sundae | £3.49 | Listed at Longsight, Manchester |
Ice cream splits into two camps. Most branches sell small 100ml Ben & Jerry’s pots (Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie or Caramel Chew Chew) at £2.99, which is the same price almost everywhere. Bigger tubs vary more: Magnum Classic 440ml tubs are £5.99 at both Manchester branches we checked, Cadbury and Oreo tubs run £5.96 to £5.99 in Dudley, large Ben & Jerry’s tubs are £8.99 at Hanley on Uber Eats, and Häagen-Dazs 460ml tubs reach £8.30 in Newcastle. One Newcastle branch also scoops gelato at £4.10 a serving, in flavours like Kinderlicious and Ferrerolicious.
How much choice you get depends heavily on the branch. Alfreton’s entire dessert section is a single “Cakes” listing at £4.49, while the Manchester branches run the widest range, with named cakes, sundaes and a full milkshake menu. Our UK menu prices guide shows how the rest of the menu is priced branch by branch, and the branch finder will point you to your nearest shop.
Milkshakes: two very different menus
Dixy milkshakes come in two styles, and which one your branch runs changes both the flavours and the price. The first is a single generic “Milkshakes” listing where you pick a flavour when you order. It costs £3.45 in Leeds and at some London and Birmingham branches, and £5.49 in Dudley. The second style is a named premium shake menu. At Longsight in Manchester, every shake is £5.49 and the flavours are proper dessert shakes: Oreo OTT with Nutella, a Biscoff Special, the Ferrero Rocher-based Gold Digger, Strawberry Dream, and an Oreo and Kinder Bueno mix called Oreo Surprise.
Newcastle branches do something different again, serving F’real self-serve shakes and smoothies. Prices run from £3.99 at one branch’s own ordering site to £5.50 at West Road, where the flavour list runs to nine options including Nestlé Rolo, Mint Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Orange. Standard smoothies elsewhere are a single generic listing at £5.49. Put together, a regular Dixy shake costs somewhere between £3.45 and £5.49 almost everywhere, with Hanley’s special shakes the only ones priced above that band. If you are deciding between a shake and a box deal, our meal deals guide covers the bundles that pair burgers with shakes at some branches.
Dessert calories: treat branch figures with care
Some branches print calories on their Deliveroo menus, but the numbers are entered by each shop and they do not agree with each other. The clearest example is the Custard Box, listed at 120 kcal in Dudley and 500 kcal in Leeds. Leeds even lists its apple pie twice on the same menu at two different prices and two different calorie counts. Cookie dough is shown at 550 to 600 kcal where figures exist, and the generic milkshake listing shows 450 kcal at the branches that publish one. No calories are published for the Matilda Cake or the kunafa shake on either app. Use branch figures as a rough guide only; our calories and nutrition breakdown explains how we handle Dixy’s numbers, and the calorie calculator will total up a full order.
Are Dixy desserts halal?
Desserts contain no meat, so the usual halal question about Dixy’s chicken does not apply in the same way. The thing to check is ingredients such as gelatine in some cakes, mousses and ice creams, and alcohol-based flavourings, which branches do not break down on their menus. If that matters to you, ask the branch before ordering; our halal guide explains how Dixy’s halal status works branch by branch. And if coatings are more your concern than puddings, our Sizzler vs Classic guide covers the savoury side of the menu.
